Notes on war service: By July 1943 he had completed his Corps training at Camp Borden and had qualified as a rifleman. He married on 5 Jul 1943 and was sent overseas two weeks later. He arrived in France on 6 Jul 1944. After being wounded on 26 Jul 1944, he was evacuated to England. He returned to France on 15 Oct 1944.
