One of the first white babies born in Stanhope was Walter Wright, son of Bowes Cecil Wright, who patented land on the Bobcaygeon Road beyond Peterson's Corners where his neighbours were the Crawfords, Coulters, Stevens, Dawsons, etc. Source: Echoes of the Past, compiled and written by Ed H.
