Interesting facts:

According to a granddaughter, Lily Cooper Deacon, Sam Sims of Somerset first settled at Paris, near London, Ontario. He travelled to Aurora on Lake Simcoe and boarded a steamboat which took him to Bobcaygeon. There was a stage to Minden but he claimed he walked north on the Bobcaygeon Road, the final eight miles all alone on the trail through the bush to the cairn of Bill Welch, already located beside Boshkung [Lake]. Sims and his son George started clearing a lot nearby, quite a switch in lifestyle for a tailor who made his living with needle and scissors up to then. Sims' journey took days.
