Interesting facts:

Elderly Sam Davies brightened his declining years with a quest to capture on his sketch pad the glories he saw daily from his window overlooking Hawk River. Davies in earlier years made snow shoes for his own family and others and would range the bush for days on end in his search for just the right sturdy and straight ash for their manufacture.
