Settler of township lot: Lot 25 & 26, Con 5, Stanhope

Location: Map point is the approximate location on the border between Lot 25 (30 acres) & Lot 26 (34 acres)  on the north shore of Maple Lake.

Land acquisition:

• Unknown. There is no record of a deed from John Grimmett in the Ontario Land Parcel Register Book - Stanhope Concession 5 .(Images 203 & 229).

Dates of residency:  Until his death in 1888, when the land was willed to his minor son Ernest Mitchell, 6 years old, to be held in trust by his mother Christina.

Interesting facts:  7 months after her husband's death, Christina remarried to neighbour John McPhail.
