Settler of township lots: Lot 8, Conc. 5, Guilford (Stanhope area)
Location: Map point is the approximate location within this 100 acre lot at the east end of Ella Court north of Pine Lake.

Interesting facts:
Charles Barnum was the Baptists' benefactor. He owned land on the north side of Pine Lake and donated some of it for the church site (now West Guilford Baptist Church) in 1905. West Guilford's first church was erected in 1906 by the Baptist denomination on property donated by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Barnum, who also owned the settlements first organ. Some of Guilford's pioneers, like Joseph Griffin and the sons of Andrew Barnum, had owned land in Stanhope before moving east to Guilford. The Barnums (Almond, William, Charles and Nelson), chose lots on the shores of Pine Lake, the first assessment for William is 1878 but he was probably there earlier.
