Interesting facts:

Andrew Brown was the first Reeve of the Township of Stanhope when it was formed in 1874.

Home of Brown's School also know as the Union School for it was a federation of S.S. No. 1 Stanhope and S.S. No. 10 Minden.

Carnarvon Post Office -1877 to 1882:  Lot 17/18, Conc.1, Stanhope Township Current address: Hwy 118 at Sennitt Hill Drive, east of Carnarvon. The Postmaster at this time was Andrew Brown. The post office would have been in or attached to his home.  Although his resignation is recorded as happening in 1882, a year earlier he is living in Manitoba, according to the 1881 census.
