Official Name: Lower Fletcher Lake

Also Known As: Skin Lake

Through a survey of property owners conducted by Algonquin Highlands in 2021 some respondents noted “discrepancies and disagreements on the official name of the lake,” as Skin Lake is on signage while Lower Fletcher Lake is on maps.

At the April 7, 2022 Council Meeting. Mayor Carol Moffat said “using the name in the official plan on signage with other current known names in brackets, while recognizing and commemorating each name of a lake at the site in the future would touch on what council wanted to do to respect heritage, and also best serve emergency response."
