Interesting facts:

  • Riverside Store: Our thanks to Murray Scott of West Guilford for giving us permission to use this picture of his father's store at the bridge in West Guilford about the year 1940. It was known as Riverside Store and the letters on the front of the store sow that Murray's dad, Cecil Scott, was the proprietor. In 1964 Murray Scott purchased the store and business from his dad and sold it to Roy Hellems in 1968. Four years later the store burned to the ground and later on they built the present restaurant which is now known as the Guilford Grill. Murray's grandfather Bill Boice build the store in 1922 and operated it until 1940. Source: Photo below - Pick of the Past, Haliburton Echo.
